You know, J.R.R. Tolkien is considered, by many of my friends, a boring writer. They've even called him 'a real snore' at times. But I have to think that the view is being made wrong. Tolkien wanted you to fall in love with his story as much as he had. And he had spent way too much time turning the whole thing over in his head. But I think he presented himself very well. I think he accomplished his goal, absolutely.

Tolkien didn't want to whisk you away into some summer crush, his intent was to walk you through the streets of his neighborhood and woo you until you were simply smitten.
