I feel peace.

Take a drive, watch Wizard of Oz.

Dorothy:
No, Aunt Em, this was a real, truly live place. And I remember that some of it wasn't very nice - but most of it was beautiful.
But just the same, all I kept saying to everybody was, 'I want to go home!' And they sent me home.
Doesn't anybody believe me?
Uncle Henry:
Of course we believe you, Dorothy.
Dorothy:
Oh, but anyway, Toto, we're home! Home! And this is my room - and you're all here!
And I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all!
And - Oh, Auntie Em, there's no place like home!!

Both sides of the mirror

I meet many old men who's brains are mostly gone from drugs and alcohol. They say stuff about how they used to be in a band and how they were amazing. I always shake my head and think they're full of it. Somehow.

Then I look at some of the bands I've been seeing lately. Little bands who we all know will never make it anywhere. The lead singer is in his thirties and starting to lose him brain from drugs and alcohol. And every night he gets up on a stage with these songs that he adores. He will throw his voice and break guitar strings and waste money for years and his music will never do anymore than satisfy him at the moment. It's the thing keeping him alive for a while. and then at some point he'll give up at trying to make it a career. And he becomes that creepy has-been at shows
that gets drunk talking about what he did when he was young.

Last night I saw someone who I know will be just that way. His songs are now entirely sad to me.

VIVA LA REFILL

McDonalds today refused us a refill on our drinks.  We all became increasingly parched after our meals and were un-happy.  And because happiness is the main emotion that McDonalds is supposed to evoke, (I know this via television: commercials.) the result was sadness and anger (towards McDonals)
.

Have you ever been lucky enough to have been dragged at a great speed underwater? (best done by a boat and rope.)

Closest thing to flying. . . well, safely.

Moorestown is a sad song.

My thoughts will pause, my throat will swell
When her name is spoken
And looking past the cold, long sea
I cannot bear to wonder now
If the cascading soft lights
Are glowing for us in Moorestown

Hand in hand with wand'ring steps.

These are a couple verses from Milton's Paradise lost. The ending actually.
I think it's also best summed up by the Red House Painters song "Fallow You Fallow Me".
You can hear it here. The lyrics are beautiful, and i feel like they really compliment Milton's words , even though the two aren't directly related.

---

They looking back, all th' Eastern side beheld
Of Paradise, so late thir happy seat,
Wav'd over by that flaming Brand, the Gate
With dreadful Faces throng'd and fiery Arms:
Some natural tears they dropp'd, but wip'd them soon;
The World was all before them, where to choose
Thir place of rest, and Providence thir guide:
They hand in hand with wand'ring steps and slow,
Through Eden took thir solitary way.

"I've got this bright idea, I could show you the world."

When I think about the world (generally visualize in one's head), I picture this giant ball of dirt that is constantly losing pieces and falling apart and is only still there because of what gravity is left.

Or a skull slowly degrading in the desert. It had skin and blood and life at one point, but now it's dry and getting dryer and growing cracks and loosing teeth.

Or an empty pool tha....

whatever you get it.

"Sunday morning is everyday for all I care."

And Im not scared
Light my candles, in a daze
cause Ive found god! YEAHHHH!!

and to quote another person:

"No matter where your religious and cultural beliefs align, there is something incredibly soothing and ridiculously relaxing about Sunday. It's the day at the end of the week that gives you a feeling similar to being able to lay down in your bed at the end of a busy day; every nerve in your body releases a collective sigh."

oh, and this is really good:

That's what happens when you're careless with the world.

Flowers and Fireworks

We need knowledge. And we need music. These are the things that I am certain about.

You cannot live without knowledge. Everyone spends every moment of their life gathering it. But the wisdom in gathering knowledge is the discernment of that which you spend your time gathering.

You cannot not have music in you. Everyone must let it out one way or another. To some, their music is words; speeches long, and books thick. Others is most literally music. And that is where my incline leads. That is where, I feel, my soul begins and ends. I must express it in this way. Or else I feel that I am doing a disservice to myself.

I could be wrong. I have been before. But I think that both of those points are pretty straight forward.

As it is.

Calvin and Hobbes never gets old to me. Bill Watterson's wit on deep matters is so moving:

'Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us."

You think you're real? You think..this, is real?

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

The entire concept of life feels like a slow motion car wreck. And you're in the passenger seat helpless to stop it.

But, dammit, I'm still going to grab the dashboard and yell at the driver.
